By downloading the Cisco AnyConnect software, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
As part of the firm's ongoing efforts to improve our security practices, we recently enabled the HostScan feature of AnyConnect in order to collect some basic information
regarding your PC/Mac to help us ensure that every personal device connected to the D. E. Shaw group network via VPN meets certain minimum security requirements.
The information HostScan collects and reports to us is your operating system version, installed updates, host name, make/model, IP address (though this is already transmitted
to the firm via your VPN connection), MAC address, open network ports (TCP/UDP), and installed certificate metadata. We only use a very small subset of this information
so that we can ensure that your personal device is using an up to date operating system with the latest security patches, but HostScan does not allow us to configure more
limited data collection. HostScan does not collect any other information (e.g. browser history or personal files). If you are currently using an older operating
system which no longer receives security patches against ransomware and other malware (e.g. Windows 7), you will not be able to connect to the D. E. Shaw group
network via VPN after December 15, 2020.
If you have any questions, please contact Systems.
